Alaska

Alaska, commonly referred to as the final frontier is home to 1,050 farms operating cross 850,000 agricultural acres. The state's farmland is primarily used to raise livestock, around 18,000 cows and 1,900 hogs. As for crops, the state produces hay, alfalfa, haylage, and barley.

Alaska is known for its vast, untouched landscape and the population is very sparse throughout most of the state. Additionally, wild game is abundant and many of the residents fish and hunt as a means to source their most nutrient dense foods. For these reasons, as well as climate and geographical location, it isn't much of a surprise that the farming is a very small part of Alaska's story.

To retain Alaska's natural beauty and pristine countryside, it is imperative that the farms here practice regenerative farming. Supporting the farms in this state that do will help to encourage the rest to follow.
