Louisiana
Louisiana is more than bayous, alligators, and mardi gras. A close look at the agricultural scene reveals that there are over 27,000 farms operating on 8 million acres, with 1.7 million acres designated to permanent pasture and rangeland. Livestock and crops are a near tie in this state, with crops edging out pasture by a mere 300,000 acres. As of 2021, the state accommodated 775,000 head of cattle, with 451,000 designated beef cows and 9,000 designated dairy cows.
Balance is key, but regenerative farming beats out mono cropping every time. Lets do what we can to prevent the scales from tipping in favor of modern farming and lets support regenerative agriculture and the preservation of the natural landscape by supporting local, family owned farms.
