Washington
Washington state has one of the most well-known farmer's market in the country. Located in Seattle, Pike Place Market has everything from fresh produce and seafood to freshly butchered meat. It makes sense that this state would have a rich agricultural landscape, and it does not disappoint.
Washington is home to 35,300 active farms operating 14.5 million acres. The state produces around 1.13 million cattle per year and operates 4.63 million acres of permanent pasture and rangeland. Washington also produces roughly 22,000 goats, 50,000 sheep, and 224,000 hogs each year. Dairy is a large commodity as well, generating the state over $1.2 billion in agricultural revenue in 2021 alone.
The remainder of the farmland is used for growing wheat, hay, and a diverse spectrum of fruits and vegetables.
Being a northwestern coastal state, Washington is able to produce a vast array of different nutritional sources but it is hard to beat the freshness and nutritional quality of farm to table sourcing from regenerative farms. These farms not only regenerate the land, they also regenerate the health and independence of the local community.
