THE MODERN HEALTH CRISIS

Our country is in a health crisis. Since 1970 obesity rates in children and adults have more than doubled. As of 2024, it is estimated that over 78.9% of American adults are either overweight, obese, or severely obese, with the obesity rate in the United States climbing to over 42.4%. The obesity rates in dogs are not far behind, with an estimated 59% of all dogs being either overweight or obese, and over 30% falling into the category of obese.

6 in 10 Americans are currently suffering from, or living with, at least one serious chronic disease. The rate of chronic disease in dogs has been climbing exponentially, year after year.

Here at APEX Pack & Tribe, we recognize the correlation and refuse to accept this as the norm. We believe that humans and canines were once apex predators, bonded together to create an unwavering and powerful force that pushed us to the top of the food chain and allowed us to claim dominance over the planet. The bond remains, but somewhere along the way we lost our power, strength, and resilience. APEX Pack & Tribe is focused on regaining that power, and our mission is to help our packs and our tribes regain the strength and resilience that was once bestowed upon all of us.

THE HUMAN-CANINE CONNECTION

We consider ourselves to be the smartest, most advanced species to have ever inhabited this planet, yet we can’t even figure out what we are supposed to be feeding ourselves. It’s no fault of our own, it is merely a result of our modern health crisis. It has left people grasping at straws, frantically searching for answers, and has led to many extreme, absolutist views on diet and nutrition.

In the wake, there are now so many differing opinions, so much contradiction, so much bias, and so much confusion that it can be utterly impossible to know which way is up. Perhaps the most disheartening of all is the division this has created. Food was once the thing that bonded people together. The very thing that bonded us with canines now seeks to tear us all apart.

Pinning the blame on specific food groups misses the point. By comparing humans with dogs I uncovered a massive subset of commonalities when it comes to nutrition and the link to metabolic dysfunction and chronic disease. I’m not implying that humans and dogs share the same diet, but we do in fact share a diet that utilizes most of the same ingredients that come from the same places. In fact, there are more commonalities than not. So in a way, we do share the same diet, our version of kibble is just more visually appealing.

In my free eBook "Unleashing Health - The Human-Canine Connection Between Metabolic Dysfunction and Chronic Disease" I detail my findings from seven years of research into the the modern food industry and the effects it has on our health.
